The citizen journalist show for over years has believed in relentless follow ups. Not merely reporting the issue but actually finding resolution to the concerns of citizens. In its new avatar as CJ+ we continue to move ahead with the same spirit at the core but renewed zeal and commitment. And it is this commitment that often brings about impacts.

Richa chaudhary first wrote to us 2 years ago taking up her fight to save Naini Lake- a natural lake existing in the heart of Model Town, in North Delhi. The resilient Naini Lake survived two attempts to convert it into a park but was fighting a losing battle to incessant fishing and insensitive tourists. Richa collected pictures and videos of the dirty lake, the dead fish and caught on camera people using this once beautiful lake as a garbage dumping ground.

Her first CJ report way back in August 2013, mobilized many others to come together for this cause. The big road block in this battle was the politics. Naini lake is owned by the MCD but maintained by the Delhi Tourism. CJ+ team questioned both these agencies but both conveniently just passed on the responsibility to another.

It has taken time & the determination of our CJ – but we are happy to report that there has now been an Impact of our reportage. Finally, leaving the politics aside the MCD and Delhi Tourism have come together in response to the growing voice of the citizens.

Watch Richa’s Impact report this Saturday-1:30pm & 9:30pm and Sunday - 10:30pm on CNNIBN
